I was happy to again be taking photos! While this time a took another path I enjoyed it just as much. I think that next time I'll try to find a path that has a bit more of a human element to it. While I don't want to be taking photos of random people on the street I do like the combination of human and nature.

This was what I consider my best picture yet. I was actually trying to take a picture of a much larger bumble bee that had flown away a few second before this picture, so while they weren't my intended model the smaller bee made a great back up. What I like about this picture is that the light plays thought the entire picture. While the subject has a good harsh light coming in from the side the shadows from the rest of the plant distort it into fun patterns. Not only is the subject well done, but I think the plants in the back have a similar angle to them that creates a nice composition. The hardest part of this assignment was finding something theoretical to try, but I think that I used my fashion expertise to it finest in that respect. I wanted to try using fabric as a "filter" and at first I tried using a orange mesh, but there wasn't much visually exciting about that. That's when i tried using a mesh with a print, and thankfully I had a print that fit the theme of the picture quite nicely. The fabric not only waves across the photo giving it either a flowing effect or almost as with looking out of a tent, and the fireflies come back to that camping theme and tie in nature in a big way. I think moving forward I would like to try to create shoots a little more. While its fun to go out and find a good shot I think having small bits of manipulating(maybe not as far as draping fabric over everything) could really add to a composition.

I think this photo is really powerful! You have the cloud as a strong main subject that draws the viewer's eye in, and its surrounded by the deep blues of the ocean. The contrast in colors make it look like the cloud is closer than it appears and while massive, looks like you could hold it in your hand. Additionally I think you timed this photo really well, especially with the wave coming out. Not only does it reflect the light of the sun and cloud, but it compositionally matches the cloud allowing for some interpreted horizontal symmetry. Really great work!!

Hi Casey!
I really like this photo you took! I agree that the lighting is really cool in this photo and creates a lot of harsh light and shadow that makes it have a lot of dimension. I also really like the bright colors of the photo, the green, yellow and pink make it really fun to look at. Having the bee as a subject is really fun and something I also really like to do when taking photos myself. I love how well focused it is and the details visible on the wings. The one thing I'd do differently is probably crop it in a bit more so the focus is more on the bee because although I agree that plants in the background are cool and have a fun pattern/lighting, I think there is a lot of it and zooming in on the bee would create a more effective image.
Great job!!
